About 20 young pregnant girls were rescued from a baby factory in Umunkpeyi, Nvosi, Isialangwa South LGA., Abia state last week, and two suspects were arrested in respect of the incidence.
First Lady of Abia State, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, who was visibly shaken by the incidence, expressed sadness and disappointment on Tuesday, during her unscheduled visit to the young girls who were receiving medical attention at Madonna College of Health Technology, Olokoro, Umuahia.
Mrs Otti assured that government would be temporarily caring for the Baby factory victims and that government will welcome partnership with charity homes, churches and other stakeholders to provide necessary assistance to care for young girls and children in the State.
Rev. Fr. Christian Anokwuru, Provost, Madonna College of Health Technology, Olokoro, who received the Girls following their rescue by the State government few days ago told the wife of the Governor that the college facility has conducted necessary medical tests to determine their health status of the rescued pregnant girls.
