The Executive Chairman of Ogun State Internal Revenue Service, OGIRS, Olugbenga Anthony Olaleye has disclosed its agency’s drive and plans to block revenue leakages and hype revenue generation. The agency is set to adopt a Consortium of Insurance companies in the issuance of Insurance Policy certificate for vehicle owners through its road Taxes Officers.
In a meeting at the agency’s headquarters, Oke Mosan in Abeokuta, Olaleye revealed that the initiative was to ensure every taxable resident in the State pays appropriate road Taxes with ease and ensure that such taxes are remitted into government coffers appropriately, and the initiative would also help to meet set revenue targets.
The insurance consortium is expected to work closely with internal revenue and road tax officers in the state. Gbenga Adeshina, Special Adviser to the Governor on Revenue, appealed to the tax officers to help the state in actualising the initiative and tax drive.
