The insurgents attacked and burnt 18 vehicles, abducted women and children during the attack, says Dogo Shettima, an aide to the state Governor Babagana Zulum
Zulum visited the scene on Monday morning and restated the commitment of relevant authorities to ending the insurgency.
While visiting the scene of the attack on Monday, the evidently angry governor told Sunday Igbinomwanhia, garrison commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, that the Army has not been up and doing:
“We have to be brutal in telling the truth. I am pushed to the wall to say the truth. Since I was inaugurated as governor of Borno state, Boko Haram has attacked Auno six times. Another thing is that the military has withdrawn from Auno town,”
With the latest attack, the insurgents have become more emboldened in their resolve to create panic and insecurity in the North East. However, in a swift response, on Monday, the Army was able to rescue a male and two female students of the Federal Government Girls College, Maiduguri, who were abducted and presented the rescued victims to their families.
