Moved a motion of urgent public importance with statistics that approximately 12 million Nigerians are unemployed, worsened by the fact that more than 2 million unemployed graduates are added every three months from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.
While other unemployeable category of people are yet excluded for their lack the technical knowledge or requisite training. He recommended bailouts by Federal Government as was released to States for the payment of salaries and allowances. He believes that such approach will assist moribund industries become viable again. He added that employment is one of the root causes insecurity and rise in ritual killings, cybercrimes and other forms of criminality bedeviling the country.
High on the table of top contributors to the debate, are the issues of Power and employability of Nigerians. Hon. Nnaji John cautioned that the Power sector needs to be revamped first and foremost, because “without Power no industry no matter the amount of bailout put into it would be viable. Hon. Aminu Suleiman also noted the failure of a similar scheme during Obasanjo’s administration due to lack of regular power supply.
